Members of the Class of 1958.John McCarthy ‘79John McCarthy ’79 was honored Man of theYear by the Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelleduring their golf outing and dinner onOctober 14th. John is an active supporter ofthe Boys & Girls Club in New Rochelle wherehe serves on the executive committee of theClub. He has volunteered his time and talentsto many youth organizations. John is an activeboard member of the <strong>Iona</strong> Prep Alumni Associationand has also served as <strong>Iona</strong> Prep’s JVbasketball and varsity coach.John McCarthy ‘79 and wife LorenClass of 1958Celebrates 50 YearsA weekend of celebration was heldfor the Class of 1958 on their 50th reunion.The celebration began on Fridayevening October 24th with cocktails atthe Verni Fine Arts Center. On Saturday, October25th several members of the Class of1958 returned to cheer on the varsity Gaels in anexciting win over St. Anthony. That evening ouralum and their guests enjoyed cocktails, dinnerand were awarded Golden Gaels diplomas byPresident James Irzyk. James Boyle ’58 had thisto say “What a wonderful experience this 50threunion, thank you.”Special Alumni Veterans DayIn honor of Veterans Day, three veteran alumscame home to the Prep. On November 4th,Frank Conroy ‘75, social studies chair, invitedLt. Col. Walter Powers ’85, Sgt. James Maisano’81 and Lt. Col. Glenn Sadowski ’85to speak to the Class of 2009. They eachshared their military experiences and answeredquestions from the students.
