The Scottish Government has beguna procurement programme to deliver upgradedinfrastructure capable of delivering broadbandspeeds of at least 24 Mbps to 75% of premisesin each Local Authority area by the end of 2015,and a basic service of 2Mbps to the remaining25%. Aberdeenshire Council has already agreedto contribute up to £18 million to improve broadbandservices in the council area but it mustprovide evidence of demand from residents andbusinesses in order to qualify for additional fundingfrom the Scottish Government.
