From Art to Aquariums

It goes beyond the cool green-blue hues that
characterize the terminals. Check out the public
art pieces, laden with native motifs. Most famous
is The Spirit of Haida Gwaii: The Jade Canoe,
a bursting-with-life sculpture by Bill Reid that’s
depicted on the Canadian $20 bill. Colourful totem
poles, canoes, and aboriginal wall art also catch
the eye.
Outside the International Terminal, admire the
huge YVR Green Wall, adorned with 30,000
plants. Inside, you’ll discover an indoor creek
and a 114,000-litre aquarium, burgeoning with
rockfish, anemones, and other species. A waterfall
soothingly greets new arrivals at immigration.
