Demographic and Local Labour Market DataLocal Authorities are encouraged to use Live Birth statistics to test the continuing accuracy of their assessment of demandas well as monitoring of accommodation and employment patterns which may affect population compositions anddensities and demand for childcare; as well as regularly testing their assessment of supply, including consultation withschools and with private, voluntary and independent providers. In our experience Live Birth Rate data can only be used asa guide and we are in the process of developing more sophisticated methods of assessing parental demand for childcareand other early year’s services.
