The Hospital of Inverness. ifAs early as 17th Jul}', 1701, the Committee appointedb)^ the Session to speak to l^aillie Dunbar reported thatthey had met with him and spoken to him, and that liepromised to take a speedie course to give them satisfaction.In the margin of the Session records there is here written," Bailhe James Ro}- Dunbar."The two bonds of corroboration, with securit}-, dated27th April, 1703, seem to have been the fruits of this conference.In 17 10 we find him still promising. On 26thDecember of that \'ear, after much negotiation and pressure,he " offered the Session to secure them in an)- part of hislands that were not life-rented b)- his wife." Parties wereappointed by him on the one hand, and the Session on theother, to inspect and Aalue the lands of Gallow-muir andMillfield.As alread}- mentioned, theSession, on iith September,171 1, were directing the Hospital Treasurer to "use theutmost diligence, both personal and reall, against the saidBaillie for recovering the poor's money lying in his hands."On 9th October of same \-ear we find in the records that" the Pro\ost reported anent the securing of poor's moneybelonging to the Hospitall, that he and some of the Eldershad met with Baillie Dunbar, and the matter is fully agreedto, and Baillie Taylor appointed to draw up the papers."But again, on 20th November, 171 1, we find the Bailie stillpromising.In the following }-ear, on 26th Februar}-, 17 12, "JamesDunbar, late Baillie, appeared " (before the Session) " anddesired to have arrestment on his rents removed, andexpresses willingness to give securit}- to the Session, and toendeavour to get those charters and papers relating to thelands above the hill, now given to the Hospitall, and thehalf coble of the water of Ness, and further security intenements in Bridge Street, in warrandice of the landsabove the hill." In the margin of the Session records onthis occasion is written, " B J a.
