Ihe HigJiland Monthly.fishing," and also docqueted at other end, but nearlyillegible," Extract Registrat Bond, James Dunbar, to theMinisters <strong>of</strong> Inverness and? others for the use and beho<strong>of</strong><strong>of</strong> the poor <strong>of</strong> Hospital."" 1706."" 3600" is marked below, and date,In the narrative <strong>of</strong> this document the date <strong>of</strong> Pi'ovostDunbar's first mortification is given as 16 July, 1688, andthe patrons said to be appoined were Mr Gilbert Marshall,James Barbour <strong>of</strong> Mullderg, and James Dunbar, and theirheirs male or representatives for the time, being <strong>of</strong> perfectage, or, in case <strong>of</strong> minority, &c., &c.: provision is said to bemade also for successors <strong>of</strong> Mr Marshall, the annual rentsto be applied as we find them stated in the memorandum,for counsel's opinion, i.e., for the poor in the hospital.<strong>The</strong>re is no mention <strong>of</strong> 8 or any fixed number <strong>of</strong> poorpersons. <strong>The</strong> date is evidently a mistake for i6th June, asin the other bond <strong>of</strong> corroboration the date <strong>of</strong> the secondMortification is given as i6th June, and this second one isreferred to in the said memorandum (as already mentioned)as " <strong>of</strong> the same date as the former," viz., the first mortification,and again in the summons as " <strong>of</strong> the self-same datewith the immediate above letter <strong>of</strong> mortification."2. Another document docqueted " Extract RegistratBond, Baillie Dunbar to the Ministers <strong>of</strong> Inverness andfour members <strong>of</strong> the Session there<strong>of</strong>, for the use and beho<strong>of</strong><strong>of</strong> eight poor within mentioned," also " 1706," and " For the2000 merks mortified by Alexr. Dunbar."In the narrative <strong>of</strong> this bond the date <strong>of</strong> ProvostDunbar's second mortification " for the use and beho<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong>eight poor weak and indigent personswithin the burgh" isi6th June, 1688, and the patrons appointed were Mr HectorMackenzie and Mr Gilbert Marshall and their successors in<strong>of</strong>fice, and five <strong>of</strong> the members <strong>of</strong> the Kirk Session only andno more, where<strong>of</strong> James Dunbar, his cousin, or his representativewas to be always one. Both these bonds <strong>of</strong>corroboration are registered on the same date, viz., 4thJune, 1706.
