E. <strong>of</strong> Pe<strong>king</strong>. <strong>The</strong>^H Isze river (referred toin a f<strong>or</strong>mer section,) rises on <strong>the</strong> n<strong>or</strong>th <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Yuen mountain, in <strong>the</strong>district <strong>of</strong> Lae-woo, and flows in a n<strong>or</strong>th-easterly direction into <strong>the</strong>sea, while <strong>the</strong> river Wan issues from <strong>the</strong> south side <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> same hill,and runs in a south-easterly direction into <strong>the</strong> Tse. It does not saythat <strong>the</strong>y sailed on till <strong>the</strong>y entered <strong>the</strong> Yellow river, this havingbeen mentioned in <strong>the</strong> description <strong>of</strong> Yttu province.f <strong>The</strong> province <strong>of</strong> Tseu is bounded on <strong>the</strong> east by <strong>the</strong> sea, on <strong>the</strong>south by <strong>the</strong> Hwae river, and on <strong>the</strong> n<strong>or</strong>th oy <strong>the</strong> Tae mountain ;it is not added, that on <strong>the</strong> west this, province was bounded by <strong>the</strong>Tse river, because <strong>the</strong> Tseu province lies oa <strong>the</strong> south oi tiie Taemountain, to <strong>the</strong> east <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tse, and on <strong>the</strong> n<strong>or</strong>th <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said hill,<strong>the</strong> eastern bank <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tse constitutes <strong>the</strong> b<strong>or</strong> iers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Tsingprovince ; hence <strong>the</strong> Tse, not being a boundary suiBciently distinct,it is passed over.X <strong>The</strong> Hwae river rises on <strong>the</strong> b<strong>or</strong>ders <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> ^||j Yu province.and it flows between ^^ Yang, and ]y^ Tseu, when it becomesa considerable river ; at <strong>the</strong> time <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> inundation <strong>the</strong> calamitywas most extreme in <strong>the</strong> Tseu province, hence <strong>the</strong> draining <strong>of</strong><strong>the</strong> Hwae is mentioned in <strong>the</strong> account <strong>of</strong> that province. <strong>The</strong> Ewater rises in <strong>the</strong> ^^ Gae mountains, near <strong>the</strong> district <strong>of</strong> y'f 7j\E-shwuy, (Lat. 35. 46.
