Bevan's OdysseyIn 2005, Bevan Barton graduated high school. While other kids are trying to find asummer job or just veg in front of their PS2, Bevan was planning a year-long tripto cycle across the globe to raise awareness and money for the AIDS crisis in Asia.And he planned to do most of it alone.Bevan’s Soma Double Cross before being loaded up with gear.Barton is no stranger to long, challenging treks behind his handlebars. He was theyoungest finisher in the 500-mile Furnace Creek race across Death Valley in 2003.He also did Paris to Rome for a school photography project in 2004.He started in late July of 2005 in Perth on the west coast of Australia and madeit to Sydney, though he did run into some trouble with surly types seeking to takeadvantage of the young traveler. He had his drink spiked and it allowed someoneto make off with his camera.He made it to Malaysia, Vietnam and Thailand, until health issues stopped himfrom continuing.
