After 1 hour journey arrivein Nisyros and transfer by bus from theharbour to the volcano and then on footto the crater with the ‘blow holes’ wheresteam escapes and also where mud hasbeen bubbling away from under the surface.After returning to Chora, a walk andvisit of the ancient cliff face Monastery“Panagia Spiliani”. On our arrival we will payhomage to this sacred archaeological sitewith an explanatory tour. The Asclepeion isan ancient medical centre to the south-eastof the town of Kos and dates from the firsthalf of the 3rd century BC. It was built tohonour the god of health and medicine,Asclepeios, after the death of the famousancient <strong>Greek</strong> physician, Hippocrates. Thephysicians of this hospital were also priestsand sanctuary was available for everyonewho wanted to pray. This hill top locationalso affords excellent views of the townof Kos, and surrounds. Subsequently are-enactment of the Hippocratic Oath willtake place. After the ceremony, the participantswill be transferred to the city ofKos for a dine around dinner, with coachesthen returning to the hotel from 10.00pmas they fill.Delegates are advised to wear comfortableshoes suitable for uneven terrain. Just oppositethe “Xysto”, is the “ Roman Odeon”, awell-constructed roman theatre built in the3rd century BC and excavated in 1929.Walking through the small streets of Kosold town, reach the Liberty’s square andthe Kos Museum. Afterwards, walkingthrough the ancient “agora” to the squareof Hippocrates’ Plane Tree, the oldest treein Europe, under the shade of which theFather of Medicine taught his students,where our tour of the historical features ofKos finishes.
