22 God’s Old Covenant And God’s New CovenantMessiah, “For, behold, the day comes, that shall burnas an oven; and all the proud, yes, and all that do wickedly,shall be stubble: and the day that comes shall burnthem up, says the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave themneither root nor branch” (Malachi 4:1).Those who followed Jesus would escape and trampleover the ashes of those under the soles of their feet(who were burned). Only The Messianic Jews (followersof Jesus) would escape from this tribulation (70A.D.).What will occur if they do not heed Malachi’s warning?“Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet beforethe coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children,and the heart of the children to their fathers, lessI come and smite the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4:5-6). Malachi concludes the prophecy at this point.This prophecy is quite clear. When Elijah comesand The Temple and The Priesthood are not cleansed(made Holy), then a worldwide curse will take place.The people will refuse to obey The Messiah and notfollow Him.The Day of The Lord will be postponed.
