24 God’s Old Covenant And God’s New CovenantHow simple and clear is this message? The Messiahwas expected and desired. Jesus, The Christ came becauseof Malachi’s prophecy (regarding The Old Covenant). The Temple served with The Old Covenant. What was Christ going to do regarding The Templeand The Covenant? Jesus explains this in Matthew5:1-20. After Jesus preached to the multitude on themountain, He came to His Disciples and gave themThe Beatitudes. Then, He told His Disciples they werethe “salt of the world.” They were to become like salt(the preservative spice). They were to be The Light ofThe World.Jesus clarified why He called His Disciples to followHim. He made a departure from their purpose to Hispurpose. He preached concerning what He came tofulfill. In Greek, the word “pleroma” means “to completethe prophecy” which appears to be directed towardMalachi 3:1. Listen to His words, “Think notthat I am come to destroy the law; or the prophets: Iam not come to destroy, but to fulfill” (Matthew 5:17).There it is again, the word “fulfill.” Christ came notonly to complete the prophecy (Malachi) but also to fulfillthe purpose of The Law of Moses – as well as thattold by The Prophets. You need to biblically prove what The Law of Moseshas to do with The Messiah. “And Moses verily wasfaithful in all his house [Israel], as a servant, for a testimony[witness] of those things which were to be spokenafter” (Hebrews 3:5). Wow! This is prophecy. BesidesMalachi and the other prophets, The Law of Mosesforetold about Christ and what He was destined to do
