Can I verify my treatment plans?With Varian’s Portal Dosimetry, quickly verify that the doseyou plan is the dose you deliver. These automated, electronictools help you compare, analyze, and document resultswithout having to expose, process, and calibrate film.Use Portal Dosimetry to compare an electronic relativedose image from Varian’s PortalVision portal imager to apredicted portal dose image calculated by Varian’sEclipse treatment planning system. Then get instant,quantitative comparisons of the two images, including dosedifference, gamma analysis, 2 point dose measurements,and line profiles.Another advantage of Portal Dosimetry for pre-treatmentIMRT QA is a higher density of data points. Direct-todigitaldata capture provides significantly more dosemeasurement points than is possible with special-purposemeasurement devices. Higher density data makes it easierto evaluate IMRT fields with high dose gradients.The predicted image (upper right) appears quitesimilar to the acquired image (lower right). Thegamma analysis (left) reveals some mismatch(yellow and yellow-green areas signify a gammaindex >1), prompting closer scrutiny of the field.2 Gamma analysis is a method for comparing two-dimensional dosedistributions, incorporating both distance-to-agreement and dosedifference criteria.
