22<strong>Animex</strong> ExhibitionThis is a FREE eventMonday 8 February - Friday 12 FebruaryEuropa Building, <strong>Teesside</strong> UniversityDoctor Who, Tardis Interior © BBC, 2005Gaining an understanding of the invisiblecreative processes that go into the productionof the various games and animation ondisplay at <strong>Animex</strong> gives you a real feel andappreciation for them. <strong>Animex</strong> Exhibitionprovides some of this insight. It is open toeveryone – providing a supplementarylearning experience for <strong>festival</strong>goers.This year’s <strong>Animex</strong> exhibition theme is Sets and Propsand will feature most of the sets, props and modelsfrom Tomorrow, a stop motion animation written,directed and animated by Bob Lee. Tomorrow wascreated through the 4mations Digital Shorts animatedshort film scheme funded by Channel 4, the UK FilmCouncil and Northern Film and Media.Also featured are some concept work by Dan Walker,BA (Hons) Industrial Design graduate from <strong>Teesside</strong>University (pictured) who has applied his creativeskills to film and television hits including the twolatest Batman movies starring Christian Bale, and theratings-busting return of Doctor Who.Dan, 38, first came to <strong>Teesside</strong> aged 19 from hishome town of Todmorden in the Pennines andgraduated in 1993. He now lives in West Londonand describes his role of a concept artist as thecombination of a designer and illustrator.He said, 'I enjoyed the whole creative process whenstudying at <strong>Teesside</strong>. There was camaraderie betweenthe students and even now we’re a very tight groupand keep in touch.
