Studio Akahave also produced a range of short films includingthe BAFTA winning Lost and Found.Stuart SumidaStuart is a Professor of Biology at California StateUniversity, the author of three books and over 50 peerreviewedpublications with funding from the NationalScience Foundation, National Geographic Society,NATO, and the Annenberg Foundation. Stuart hasbeen an anatomical consultant on over 45 majormotion pictures involving traditional hand-drawnanimation, computer graphic animation, and CGspecial effects at studios including Walt DisneyFeature Animation, DreamWorks, SONY, StarZ,Rhythm & Hues, and PIXAR. His earliest filmsincluded Beauty and the Beast and Lion King, andmost recently he has worked on Disney’s Rapunzel,DreamWorks How to Train Your Dragon, and FoxStudios The Life of Pi. In 2008 he was namedOutstanding Professor for Science, Engineering andMathematics for the entire California State Universitysystem.Matthew TeevanMatthew is Head of Production at Starz Animation andresponsible for the overall planning of delivery of theirshows. He has been in the business over 20 years.His first job was on Disney’s Who Framed RogerRabbit? in the rotoscoping and matte department,followed by six years at Amblimation, a London-basedfeature animation studio making films for StevenSpielberg’s Amblin Entertainment. Matthewsupervised the studio’s transition from traditional inkand paint to digital compositing and computergraphics. He was one of the first employees atDreamWorks SKG working on the ground-breakingPrince of Egypt. Since joining Starz Animation in 2006Matthew has overseen the completion of three featurefilms including Tim Burton’s 9, and is currently workingwith Miramax Films and Sir Elton John’s RocketPictures on Gnomeo & Juliet, out this year.James TerKeurstDr James TerKeurst is Director of the Institute ofDigital Innovation (IDI) and a member of the DigitalCityboard. The IDI is part of the larger DigitalCity project,which is focussed on developing a thriving digitalcreative industry in North East England. As aninnovation nexus for the region, the IDI manages theDigitalCity Fellowship <strong>programme</strong> that is currentlycreating three new companies each month. The IDIis also involved in championing innovation withinschools and communities across the region.Alex TrowersAlex is a senior designer at Black Rock Studio. He’salso an industry veteran who has been making gamesfor longer than he hasn’t – cutting his teeth onawesome blockbuster titles all through the ‘90s.He likes nothing more than to discuss the intricaciesof game design with anyone who’ll listen or those whoare unable to outrun him. His passion for gaming anddesign is only matched by his fertile imagination andgeneral awesomeness. His skills include killer gamedesign, baking and shameless exaggeration on bios.Sarah WebbSarah is a claymation artist and PR manager at Tuna,a Sheffield developer currently focused uponinnovative content for digital distribution and the newopportunities offered by cross-platform digital media.Having worked with brands including Family Guy,classic gaming series Boulder Dash, Disney’s 102Dalmatians, and the multiple award-winning indie hitAlien Hominid, Tuna recently received an IGFExcellence in Visuals Arts nomination for theirforthcoming all-Claymation title Cletus Clay, and aredeveloping further projects with Screen Yorkshire,4IP and Channel 4. Sarah previously worked at FuturePublishing and as a freelance artist; she has designedtattoos, painted pub murals, coloured architecturalplans and sketched portraits in pubs.
