Our 6th Annual Wine Walk was another great night of mingling and wine tasting. Once again, downtown Springfield was host to hundreds of people who visited our 13 wine-tasting locations. The second year for the VIP Uncorked event was a hit with a representative from Silver Oak Cellars presenting the wines. Thank you sponsors and participants for another great year! More than 6,000 runners and walkers participated in the 15th Annual Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk, held in downtown Springfield. The Turkey Trot is one of the largest 5K races in the state of Missouri, and is the largest annual race in the Springfield metro area. All proceeds benefit DCO and the Springfield-Greene County Park Board Scholarship Fund. Special thanks to everyone who helped make this event a success! Gift Wrap Booth This year’s Gift Wrap Booth marked year 34 of this annual fundraiser More than 350 gracious volunteers came out to the Battlefield Mall to wrap thousands of gifts. We’re so thankful for these faithful volunteers as well as the great customers who support us through getting their gifts wrapped! Event Sponsors: Media Sponsors: 15 Annual Report –Fiscal Year 2009 Thanks to the combined efforts of our sponsors and volunteers, the Gift Wrap Booth grossed $26,000 in 2009! The booth has become one of our most visible annual fundraisers and increases the community’s awareness of the mission of DCO. We’re already planning for 2010! Rock ‘N Ribs Once again, DCO was a part of the annual Rotary Clubs of Springfield Rock ‘N Ribs Festival April 17th and 18th. More than 60 BBQ teams competed, and thousands of people came out to sample great barbeque in support of children’s charities of the Ozarks. Over the years, Rock ‘N Ribs has raised more than $600,000 for children’s charities. Additional thanks to Rotary for choosing DCO as a grant recipient and the $5,000 we received through the 2009 event. Price Cutter Charity Championship DCO was honored to again be a part of the Price Cutter Charity Championship Tournament Presented by Dr. Pepper.
