Early Child Care &<br />

Education Program<br />

DCO’s Early Child Care and<br />

Education (ECCE) program is a<br />

nationally accredited program,<br />

licensed by <strong>the</strong> Bureau <strong>of</strong> Child<br />

Care Learning to provide child<br />

care services for children with and<br />

without developmental disabilities,<br />

as well as a vendor for <strong>the</strong><br />

Children’s Division.<br />

The Early Child Care and<br />

Education program <strong>of</strong>fers a daily<br />

classroom setting for infants and<br />

children six weeks through six<br />

years who require specialized<br />

programs and <strong>the</strong>rapies as well<br />

as children who do not. The<br />

classroom instruction is based<br />

on a developmental model and<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers a wide variety <strong>of</strong> activities<br />

including language stimulation,<br />

motor development, self-help skill<br />

development, learning centers, and<br />

play activities. Trained staff and a<br />

full time nurse are supervised by<br />

a pr<strong>of</strong>essional coordinator with a<br />

degree in education.<br />

<strong>2009</strong> Accomplishments<br />

• All teachers ei<strong>the</strong>r have or<br />

obtaining minimum <strong>of</strong> a CDA<br />

certificate<br />

• Kitchen improved with<br />

commercial dishwasher,<br />

microwave, and drying racks<br />

2010 Goals<br />

• Increase enrollment by 10%<br />

• Develop and implement<br />

increased pre-academics and<br />

school readiness curriculum<br />

Dawson loves going to DCO. He’s been at DCO since he<br />

was 3 1/2 months old and he loves that everyone knows<br />

him.<br />

One day we were staying home because <strong>of</strong> inclement<br />

wea<strong>the</strong>r and he came to me and said, “But I need to go to<br />

my school today.” He is always excited to go to DCO and<br />

that makes us excited.<br />
