Adult Technology<br />
Learning <strong>Center</strong><br />
The Technology Learning <strong>Center</strong><br />
(TLC) Program <strong>of</strong>fers services to<br />
individuals who are referred by<br />
<strong>the</strong> family or Service Coordination<br />
agency. The program provides<br />
both <strong>Center</strong> based and Community<br />
Classes, as well as Volunteer<br />
Opportunities and Personal<br />
Assistance.<br />
The TLC Program <strong>of</strong>fers learning<br />
labs based on several levels <strong>of</strong><br />
individual needs. The course<br />
choices change every four months<br />
and include activities such as<br />
computers, gardening, woodworking<br />
and pre-vocational skills. Classes<br />
and volunteer sites in <strong>the</strong> community<br />
are designed to compliment and<br />
provide opportunities for <strong>the</strong> adult<br />
learner to practice skills learned in<br />
<strong>the</strong> center based labs. They also<br />
provide an excellent opportunity for<br />
inclusive experiences.<br />
Our goals are to provide an<br />
environment in which new skills<br />
can be learned and additional<br />
skills can be refined or relearned.<br />
We aim to increase skills leading<br />
toward personal independence,<br />

vocational preparation, and career<br />
advancement. These services are<br />
approved by <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong><br />
Mental Health and accredited by<br />
CARF.<br />

Designing with Art is just one<br />
example <strong>of</strong> some <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most popular classes<br />
<strong>of</strong>fered in <strong>2009</strong> through our Technology Learning <strong>Center</strong>.<br />
Many <strong>of</strong> our special event sponsors received some<br />
wonderful works <strong>of</strong> art as a token <strong>of</strong> our appreciation.<br />
In addition, numerous canvases were featured at Lili’s<br />
Diner in Downtown Springfield as part <strong>of</strong> First Friday Art<br />
Walk in September. Admirers were given <strong>the</strong> opportunity<br />
to purchase <strong>the</strong> art for <strong>the</strong>ir own home or <strong>of</strong>fice and <strong>the</strong><br />
artwork was on display for <strong>the</strong> entire month <strong>of</strong> September.<br />
As you can see in <strong>the</strong> picture above, each consumer was<br />
extremely proud <strong>of</strong> what <strong>the</strong>y created.
