HeadlineGitnang LuzonSEPTEMBER 12, 2013REGION 3367 studentsbenefit fromCapitolscholarshipBy Marna Dagumboy-del RosarioCITY OF SAN FER-NANDO -- In a bid to giveequal opportunities forpoor but intelligent Kapampanganstudents, a total of367 student-beneficiariesyesterday received educationalfinancial assistancefrom the provincial government.During the distributionof financial aid to studentsfrom Fourth District towns,Governor Lilia Pineda saidthe assistance will helpimprove their living conditionsin the future.Ordinance No. 484, asamended by OrdinanceNo. 580, states that theprovincial government’seducational assistance programis aimed at helpinghighschool graduates withhonors from public schoolsin Pampanga by grantingthem financial assistancefor college education includingalternative learningsystem (ALS) passers.Accordingly, for valedictorianstudents who enjoyfull scholarship from a university/college,the educationcash benefit shall bepaid to them directly, immediatelyafter submittingtheir complete requirements.“Those who do not havescholarship grants, the educationcash benefit shallbe released and remittedto the college/universitywhere they enrolled,” theordinance states.The education cash benefitis for a two-year periodfor as long as the studentrecipientmaintains the requiredgeneral average.A maintaining grade of85 percent is required forvaledictorian, salutatorianand 1st honorable mention;80 percent for 2nd and 3rdhonorable mentions; whileALS graduates must maintainpassing grades.Program beneficiariesmay lose their educationcash benefit should theyobtain failing grades; dropany subject and disciplinedby school authorities forviolating school rules andregulations and for unrulybehavior. ●Interactive tree topadventure eyed in PilarBy Butch GunioPILAR, Bataan -- In abid to boost tourism, firsttermLady Mayor AlicePizarro of this town is eyeingto develop an interactivetree top adventure neara falls here.She said the tourismproject will be establishedin the area of DunsulanFalls in the upland BarangayLiyang.She said six massivetrees will be utilized for theproject.“What we are thinkinghere is a tree top adventuretotally different from thatin Subic.
