CayabyabANGELES CITY -- A group ofFrench designers and curatorsrecently conducted an ocularinspection at the old PamintuanMansion after signifying theirintention to assist the nationalgovernment in developing it intoa museum.The group was headed byAriane Tricaud, cultural attachéof the French embassy inthe Philippines. The visit wasfacilitated by Chairperson MariaSerena Diokno of the NationalHistorical Commission of thePhilippines (NHCP) and RosalieNaguiat of Kuliat Foundation,Inc.According to Diokno, thePamintuan Mansion will beconverted into a museum thatwill showcase the ingenuity andcraftsmanship of the Filipinosand will feature a collection oflocal photographs, artworks,artifacts and the culinary expertiseof the Kapampangans.Diokno said the PamintuanMansion will be called theMuseum of Philippine SocialHistory.She said the uniqueness ofthe museum will be the displayof old textiles used by Filipinodesigners.“Also with the support of Beatriz‘Patis’ Pamintuan Tesoro,the ‘Grand Dame of PhilippineFashion,’ we can expect indigenousFilipino materials likeAbaca, Abel Tiniri, MindanaoSilk and Piña (extract fiber frompineapple leaves) to be exhibitedin the museum,” Diokno added.The Pamintuan Mansionis the ancestral house of thePamintuan clan, built by DonMariano Pamintuan, whoseprominent members includeTesoro and Mayor EdgardoPamintuan.The mayor expressed hisgratitude to the French delegationsaying that the assistanceto be extended in the conversionof the Pamintuan Mansionwill open the gates of culturalrelationship between the Philippinesand France.Pamintuan said that hisadministration will also helpthe NHCP in developing thePamintuan Mansion into a historicalcenter and museum forthe people of Angeles City andPampanga.“We are willing to help inmaking the Pamintuan Mansiona museum for the people of thiscity. It is a historical site that wecould be proud of and with themansion under the care of theNHCP, we are sure that it wouldbe given its rightful respect as ahistorical structure,” Pamintuanadded.The mayor said that thePamintuan Mansion whichused to be a clearing house ofthe Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas(BSP) was officially named byNHCP as a “heritage site”.In the course of the fledglingPhilippine Republic’s struggleagainst the United States,President Emilio Aguinaldotemporarily moved the seat ofgovernment from Kawit, Caviteto Pampanga to what is nowknown as the Pamintuan Mansion.It changed ownership severaltimes since 1899. The edificealso served as the town’s municipalhall. Later, the propertywas acquired by the BSP.With the BSP branch movingto a bigger location in the Cityof San Fernando in 2010, theBSP decided to turn over theproperty to the national government,through the Departmentof Finance by way of a propertydividend. CayabyabANGELES CITY -- Two graduatesfrom a <strong>university</strong> heretopped the August 2013 MedicalTechnology Licensure Examination.Shara Laine Vino and JudeaGonzales, medical technologygraduates from Angeles UniversityFoundation (AUF), placedfourth and sixth, respectively,during the recent med-tech licensureexaminations.Meanwhile, the <strong>university</strong>scored a passing rate of 96.47 percent,or 82 out of 85 total examinees,and 97.56 percent, or 80 outof 82 first-time takers, versus thenational passing of 83.8 percent,or 2276 out of 2716 examinees.“We are proud of this achievementby our new med-techs,coming shortly after our 100 percentpassing rate in the medicineboard exams last month and 100percent first timer passing ratein the bar examinations and accountingexaminations last year,”Joseph Emmanuel Angeles, presidentof AUF, said.Angeles said their achievementis due to their “unwaveringcommitment to quality by givingtheir graduates 100 percent sothey get 100 percent.”AUF placed sixth nationwideamong 78 med-tech schools, andranked first in Central <strong>Luzon</strong>. ●
