In partnership with <strong>the</strong> Clevel<strong>and</strong>Metropolitan School District, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rock</strong> Your World All-City Arts festival once againcelebrated <strong>the</strong> Clevel<strong>and</strong> <strong>community</strong>’s outst<strong>and</strong>ing <strong>the</strong>ater, music <strong>and</strong> arts students.Each year, <strong>community</strong> festivals bring thous<strong>and</strong>s <strong>of</strong> people <strong>to</strong>ge<strong>the</strong>r <strong>to</strong> help <strong>the</strong>munderst<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> appreciate <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rock</strong> <strong>Hall</strong>’s mission <strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong> range <strong>of</strong> cultures <strong>and</strong>musical styles it commemorates.Once again, <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rock</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Roll</strong> <strong>Hall</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Fame</strong> presented its free summer concert series,this time partnering with Clevel<strong>and</strong>.com. <strong>The</strong> free Clevel<strong>and</strong> Sessions <strong>to</strong>ok placeon <strong>the</strong> Plaza in front <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Museum throughout <strong>the</strong> summer.<strong>The</strong> Museum held <strong>the</strong> first Riot Girls & Rebels: A Celebration <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essionalWomen Who <strong>Rock</strong> event sponsored by KeyBank. <strong>The</strong> event was designed <strong>to</strong> honorwomen who are an inspiration <strong>and</strong> involved in arts <strong>and</strong> cultural organizations. Musicexecutive Barbara Carr, veteran <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> music business, was honored. She has spent <strong>the</strong>last 27 years as a partner in Jon L<strong>and</strong>au Management, working with Bruce Springsteenamong o<strong>the</strong>rs. She created <strong>the</strong> Kristen Ann Carr Fund for sarcoma research at <strong>the</strong>request <strong>of</strong> her daughter who died <strong>of</strong> cancer. Also honored was Joan Jett, who – alongwith her b<strong>and</strong>, <strong>the</strong> Blackhearts – entertained <strong>the</strong> crowd with a powerful performance.<strong>The</strong> first local winner was Eliza Wing, president <strong>and</strong> CEO <strong>of</strong> clevel<strong>and</strong>.com.At <strong>the</strong> same time, <strong>the</strong> Museum was featured prominently on national television<strong>and</strong> in newspapers across <strong>the</strong> country. <strong>The</strong> Today Show traveled <strong>to</strong> Clevel<strong>and</strong> for afeature s<strong>to</strong>ry on Toddler <strong>Rock</strong>, American Idol used <strong>the</strong> 500 Songs that Shaped <strong>Rock</strong><strong>and</strong> <strong>Roll</strong> as its <strong>the</strong>me for a week, <strong>The</strong> New York Daily News covered our distancelearningclass at a high school in <strong>the</strong> Bronx, <strong>and</strong> more than 200 newspapers ran anAssociated Press s<strong>to</strong>ry about <strong>the</strong> Toddler <strong>Rock</strong> program.
