Mobile phone registration for students: Students are able to communicate via text messages,
including receiving class notifications and grades; students are able to initiate and respond to text
messages which in turn are delivered to the instructor's email account, which results in a faster
way to respond to and communicate with students.
Stop Motion Video Workshop: Brown coordinates this workshop as part of the Embarras Valley
Film Festival. EIU students enrolled in MIS 3515, Information Presentation, assist with the
workshop. This year, ten EIU students attended and worked with local elementary and middle
school students to produce twelve videos that were later shown as part of the festival.
Digital Event Attendance: Brown is in the process of developing a system that will utilize
student ID cards using a handheld card reader, in order to record student attendance at School of
Business events. The system has undergone several tests and is able to produce meaningful

eports by integrating banner information about attendees' gender, class, major, minor, GPA, and
other variables.
