In fact, it wasn’t a reason at all, because takingsomeone’s life just for a piece of metal wouldn’t bean admirable thing to do. I had found my truth long beforeI got the sword and I realized by killing SharptoothI wouldn’t truly make the sword my own, but quite thecontrary, give it away by selling out all I believed in...I didn’t become a pirate because of the power, I did notneed the Sword of the Kings for anything. Piracy for mewas about honour... about honour and freedom. Aboutthe cool waters of the Baltic Sea.”“What happened to Silvia?” one of Anti’s friendsasks. Ants starts laughing and answers, “I took her withme, of course. And we got married later. Silvia is after allAnti’s grandmother, you know.”“Oh, Grandpa, just stop it. You’re talking crazy,” Antibursts out suddenly. “It is not possible that all that happenedfifty years ago. There was the Cold War goingon during that time. We were under Soviet occupation. There were no pirates and even if there were, theywould have been killed in an instant... Why can’t youjust be a regular old man, why do you have to tell thesestupid stories? They are all just lies, just dumb stories.”After shouting these words Anti ran away from thebeach and went straight to his grandparents’ house andsat down on the stairs. From the house his grandmotherSilvia came.“What has happened? Where’s your grandfather?”Silvia asks.“He is telling his stupid stories again. Lying about beinga pirate... He said something about fighting some evilpirate called Rein Sharptooth and something about theSword of Kings or something.”Silvia sits down next to her grandson, pats him on theshoulders and says, “Oh, honey... He just wants to be apart of the Baltic Sea... I mean, look at these waters they connect some of the most beautiful shores onthe face of the earth of course, they might not be assandy and clear as the Caribbean’s, but the roughnessand the beauty of these waters contain more powerthan the huge waves of the Pacific Ocean. These waterscan survive anything from the coldest winters tothe hottest summers; they almost seem human.”“But why does he have to lie like that. He’s a crazy...”Silvia smiles cleverly and says, “Well, everyone hashis own truth... And now you run along to the woodshedand bring a few logs to put in the oven. I want to makesome homemade bread for dinner. It is your grandfather’sbirthday after all.” Then she stands up and goesinside.Anti starts to glumly stroll toward the woodshed, entersand takes few logs, and then he spots a huge dustysword in the corner. A hot wave passes through him ashe drops the logs and picks up the sword.“Could it be...?” he murmurs to himself as he gazes atthe most beautiful sword his eyes have ever met.72
