2008 Year of Frog – Suggested Activities<strong>Spot</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>differences</strong>OverviewIn this activity, students can learn <strong>the</strong> environmental changes due to human impactsand <strong>the</strong> threats that bring to <strong>the</strong> amphibians.Target AgeAge 4-12BackgroundThe game involves <strong>the</strong> message of impacts on amphibians due to habitatdestruction, pollution, climatic change and over-collection. The environmentalproblems are visualised in graphics. Children can spot <strong>the</strong> <strong>differences</strong> before andafter <strong>the</strong> change. Besides, <strong>the</strong> children can learn <strong>the</strong> role of frog in pest insectscontrol and minimizing <strong>the</strong> spread of diseases.ObjectivesStudents will:• Give twoexamples ofthreats thatamphibians arefacing• Know that cleanenvironment isimportant toamphibians• Name one benefitthat amphibianbring to human lifeMaterials• Game sheets• Colour pensProcedurePreparation1. Can photocopy <strong>the</strong> game sheet to students or;2. Prepare <strong>the</strong> projector system in classroom to project <strong>the</strong> graphic3. A copy of answer sheetConduct <strong>the</strong> activity1. For young kids (age 4-6), <strong>the</strong> whole class can work toge<strong>the</strong>r with guidance ofteacher2. For Primary 1-3 (age 7-9), students can work in pair to spot <strong>the</strong> <strong>differences</strong>3. For Primary 4-6 (age 10-12), student can work individually and teacher canfacilitates students to discuss <strong>the</strong> problems during class before checking <strong>the</strong>answers.Debriefing questions1.
