The NEW Rotational
Engineering Leadership Development Program (RELDP)
The first class of five RELDP participants has
been selected and started this rotational program
in September. This group will change
positions or “rotate” through at least two
businesses over the course of this program.
They join an existing Engineering Leadership
Development Program (ELDP) that consists of
approximately 120 participants who typically
do not rotate positions. George Lynch serves
as the program manager for both programs.
The ELDP, a two-year program, was
launched in 2000. Approximately 60 of our
most promising engineers are recruited each
year from within Raytheon to participate in
this program. The RELDP will become a sub-

The 3rd joint Raytheon Systems & Software
Engineering Symposium is devoted to fostering
increased teaming and collaboration
on current developments, capabilities, and
future directions between Systems &
Software Engineering. It is sponsored by the
Raytheon Systems & Software Engineering
Technology Networks and the Raytheon
Systems & Software Engineering Councils
and will feature 3 days of presentations,
tutorials, panels, and exhibits in all areas
relevant to systems and software disciplines.
The symposium will provide an excellent
opportunity to network with your peers,
set of this program. Each RELDP class will
eventually consist of 10 engineers with graduate
degrees who are annually recruited on
campus. This group will have three, eightmonth
assignments across different Raytheon
businesses prior to permanent assignment.
Based on his own experiences throughout
various Raytheon businesses, Bill Swanson
recognized the rotation process as an
invaluable development tool for engineers.
The rotational experience will complement
the cross-functional training, leadership
development, and mentoring that is already
provided in all Leadership Development
Programs (LDP).
and to explore innovative solutions through
technology engineering to increase our
future competitiveness.
Each day features up to six tracks devoted
to the latest in Raytheon technologies
with prominent speakers from Raytheon
senior management such as Bill Swanson,
Greg Shelton, Peter Pao and others from
industry and major customer areas to be
announced. A separate track features
vendors, Raytheon booths and other
associated organizations.
