However, if we just considerthe industrial assets that are quitepossibly located in a likely flood riskzone than we need to place a highvalue on initiating urgent flood preventionand protection measures.The Sindh Industrial Trading Estate(S.I.T.E), the F.B Area Industrial Zone,the North Karachi Industrial Zoneand the Landhi/Korangi IndustrialTrading Estates (L.I.T.E/K.I.T.E) arelocated right along the Lyari andMalir Rivers respectively.K.I.T.E gotextensively flooded in the 1977floods and has since been protectedby the Malir River Embankment.If we consider essential civic servicesthan it is indicated that a fairlyextensive water supply and seweragesystem related infrastructuresuch as pumping stations is locatedalong mostly the Lyari River intowns that border on the river.
