4 FREEMASONRY IN THE DOMINIONtonomy Bill was still being debated in Parliament, it was decided to adjourn <strong>the</strong>meeting again, until one month after <strong>the</strong> Autonomy Bill came into force . ThisAct was passed, some time previous to, and became effective on, September i,1905, and <strong>the</strong> adjourned meeting called for October i2, on which day <strong>the</strong> Grand<strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alberta came into being . At that time <strong>the</strong>re were eighteen <strong>Lodge</strong>s in<strong>the</strong> Province <strong>of</strong> Alberta and seventeen <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>se were represented by seventy-nineDelegates, who were responsible for forming and constituting Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> byadopting <strong>the</strong> following resolution" TO THE BRETHREN WHERE 'ER SCATTERED O 'ER LAND AND SEA "Whereas it has been made to appear by many Brethren <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Ancient Fraternity<strong>of</strong> Free and Accepted Masons in <strong>the</strong> newly formed Province <strong>of</strong> Alberta,Canada, that it is most expedient and desirable for <strong>the</strong> proper government <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>Craft that a Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Masons shall be formed in <strong>the</strong> said Province <strong>of</strong>Alberta .BE IT KNOWN, That at a convention held in <strong>the</strong> City <strong>of</strong> Calgary in <strong>the</strong>said Province on <strong>the</strong> izth . <strong>of</strong> October, Anno Lucis, 5905, in <strong>the</strong> sixth year <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>reign <strong>of</strong> His Majesty King Edward VII, for <strong>the</strong> purpose <strong>of</strong> taking into considerationa proposition from <strong>the</strong> Medicine Hat <strong>Lodge</strong> No . 31, A . F . & A . M . (GrandRegister <strong>of</strong> Manitoba) with this object in view, it was unanimously enactedas followsWhereas, it is <strong>the</strong> unanimous opinion <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Masonic <strong>Lodge</strong>s <strong>of</strong> Alberta thata Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> shall be formed for <strong>the</strong> said Province, it is hereby RESOLVED,That <strong>the</strong> Delegates now assembled shall, and do hereby constitute <strong>the</strong>mselvesas a true and lawful Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> for <strong>the</strong> Province <strong>of</strong> Alberta, under <strong>the</strong> AncientLandmarks existing from time immemorial, to which adhesion is hereby given .The formation <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> said Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alberta being sanctioned by <strong>the</strong>Most Worshipful Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Manitoba, under whose jurisdiction <strong>the</strong> said<strong>Lodge</strong>s have been constituted .Such is <strong>the</strong> direct statement, pregnant with thought, wisdom and understanding,regarding <strong>the</strong> genesis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alberta, A . F . and A . M .Proclamation was <strong>the</strong>n made by <strong>the</strong> Grand Director <strong>of</strong> CeremoniesIn <strong>the</strong> Name and by <strong>the</strong> Authority <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> "Ancient Charges and Constitutions<strong>of</strong> Masonry " and <strong>the</strong> proceedings <strong>of</strong> a Convention duly called in accordancewith <strong>the</strong> same-I now proclaim this Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> by <strong>the</strong> name <strong>of</strong> " THEMOST WORSHIPFUL THE GRAND LODGE OF ALBERTA, ANCIENT,FREE AND ACCEPTED MASONS " duly formed and constituted .The first election <strong>of</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> Officers, which took place immediately<strong>the</strong>reafter, resulted as followsR.
