W : .Grand Master in preparing <strong>the</strong> address to sister Grand <strong>Lodge</strong>s, and that R .'. W . .Bro . James Henderson, Grand Senior Warden, R . - . W .-. Bro . John Kennedy,Grand Treasurer, and R .'. W . -. Bro . <strong>the</strong> Reverend Canon O'Meara, Grand Chaplain,be that Committee .Then in his address before <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> at its first Annual Communicationheld on June 14, 1876, M .'. W . -. Bro. W . C . Clarke, Grand Master, made <strong>the</strong>following approving statement : " <strong>the</strong> usual address to <strong>the</strong> sister <strong>Lodge</strong>s wassent to all <strong>the</strong> Grand Bodies on <strong>the</strong> American continent, that to <strong>the</strong> EuropeanGrand Bodies being deferred till after this Communication, and I am happy toinform this Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> that in no single case has any fault been found with<strong>the</strong> constitutionality <strong>of</strong> our proceedure, but that in some instances I have beencongratulated on behalf <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> framers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> by high Masonicauthorities on <strong>the</strong> entire correctness <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> steps which have been taken and<strong>the</strong> result attained . It is my pleasing duty to congratulate you upon <strong>the</strong>marked success which has so far attended your efforts in <strong>the</strong> interest <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong>royal Craft ."The mo<strong>the</strong>r Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Canada was first to extend Fraternal intercoursewith <strong>the</strong> newly-formed Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Manitoba, under date <strong>of</strong> July14, 1875 . As <strong>the</strong> region became settled, o<strong>the</strong>r <strong>Lodge</strong>s were formed in <strong>the</strong> differenttowns throughout <strong>the</strong> Province and throughout <strong>the</strong> Northwest Territories,<strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Manitoba having extended its jurisdiction over <strong>the</strong>Districts <strong>of</strong> Alberta, Assiniboia, Saskatchewan, and <strong>the</strong> Yukon Territory . ByOctober 12., 1905, <strong>the</strong>re were 104 <strong>Lodge</strong>s on <strong>the</strong> Grand Register, and <strong>the</strong>re wasa total membership <strong>of</strong> S725 . On that date 18 <strong>Lodge</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Province <strong>of</strong> Albertamet at Calgary and formed <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Alberta . M . -. W . . Bro . WilliamG . Scott, Grand Master, who was present to Install <strong>the</strong> Officers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> newGrand <strong>Lodge</strong>, was elected an Honorary Past Grand Master. At <strong>the</strong> AnnualCommunication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong>, held in Winnipeg on June 13, 19o6, Fraternalrecognition was extended, toge<strong>the</strong>r with <strong>the</strong> most kindly greetings and<strong>the</strong> wish that success and prosperity would attend <strong>the</strong> new Grand <strong>Lodge</strong>, <strong>the</strong>first daughter Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Grand Body <strong>of</strong> Manitoba . Then, on August9, 19o6, 2.9 <strong>Lodge</strong>s <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Province <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan met at Regina and <strong>the</strong>reformed <strong>the</strong> Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan, <strong>the</strong> second daughter Grand <strong>Lodge</strong> .At that meeting, M .''. W .-. Bro . John McKechnie, Grand Master, and M .-. W .-.Bro . James A . Ovas, Past Grand Master and Grand Secretary <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Grand<strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Manitoba, who were present to Install <strong>the</strong> Officers <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> new Grand<strong>Lodge</strong> <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan, were elected Honorary Past Grand Masters .
