pumpsPump supply for the Huascacocha water transfer project in Peru<strong>Pentair</strong> Nijhuis’ first pumporder in South Americawritten by inge sluijter<strong>Pentair</strong> Nijhuis’ pumps have been selectedas part of the water transfer system to feedthe Peruvian Huachipa drinking watertreatment plant benefitting 2.4 millionresidents in Lima and neighboring Callao.<strong>Pentair</strong> Nijhuis received an order from theBrazilian construction firm ConstructoraOAS Ltd. for the supply of four 855,000gallons per hour (3,240 m 3 /h) capacity splitcase pumps for this project.The project includes building a 49 foot (15 m) dam wallthat will store almost 21 billion gallons (79million m 3 ) of water and building <strong>14</strong> miles (22.5 km) ofconcrete channel, a 1.3 mile (2,1 km) tunnel and a 3.2mile (5.1 km) long pipe line that is 4.9 feet (1500 mm)in diameter. The water transfer system leads from theHuascacocha Lake, via the Marca III system, to theRímac River in Lima, Peru.
