Así se reúnen en el artista unaserie de características que responden a esosdos aspectos fundamentales del arte: el elementoformal y el elemento interno.El poder sobre la materiaPor un lado, el artista ha de desarrollaruna capacidad de dominio sobre la materia que implicaVoluntad, constancia, conocimiento y capacidad deesfuerzo. El artista no se improvisa. Puede haber un granpotencial artístico, pero esto no basta.Cuántos de nosotros no hemos tenido un momento deinspiración musical o poética, pero cuando nos ponemosfrente a un instrumento o un papel nos sentimos inútiles.Somos incapaces de modelar sonidos o materia. Nosponemos delante de un pedazo de barro o de una piedra...y ¿ahora qué hacemos?... se fue... Percibimos la ideapor un instante, pero no somos capaces de plasmarla.Nos falta conocimiento y desarrollo técnico.La técnica se manifiesta como el control de las formas,capaz de introducirnos, como una mano, en la materia yhacerla dúctil a nuestra voluntad.
