Message from theBoard ofTrusteesb y W i l l i a m J e n n i n g s , C h a i rIn a year marked bythe decline in theeconomy, our entireschool communityrespondedpositively, forgingahead andcontinuing theprogress of the past several years. Fiveyears ago, we launched “OpeningWorlds of Opportunity: a Campaignfor the Waldorf School of Garden City”and this past October, we celebratedthe dedication of our newly renovatedlibrary, renamed the Miller Library, inhonor of former Trustee, John Miller, and former faculty member and currentTrustee, Kristin Miller. This celebrationwas the crowning achievement of thisimportant campaign.Throughout this past year, thefaculty continued to provide a highquality Waldorf education to ourstudents. Parents, alumni and friendssupported the School through theirparticipation in the Annual Fund, theWindows Campaign, and many otherschool-wide activities. At the Spring Festival, wecelebrated and dedicated the School’snewly renovated courtyard in honor ofalumni parents and longtimebenefactors, Marilyn and NormanCranin. A Trustee at the WaldorfSchool since 1985, Marilyn is theBoard’s longest serving member, usingher passion and commitment forfundraising on the Board’s DevelopmentCommittee.Once again this year, I have hadthe privilege and honor of acting as theChair of the School’s Board of Trusteesand would like to thank each memberof the Board for their efforts on behalfof this School. In particular, I wouldlike to thank Hans-Christian Brechbühl’78 as he retires from the Board after 10years of dedicated service. During thoseyears, Hans drove nearly 300 miles eachway from his home in Vermont toattend our Board meetings. Throughhis efforts, our school and Camp GlenBrook have significantly broadened anddeveloped, and we are grateful to Hansfor his time, energy and leadership. In closing, I ask the entire Waldorfcommunity to do all that you can topromote enrollment in our school. Thestrength of our School is possible fromthe strength of families like your own.2
