Message from theOffice ofDevelopmentb y M a r j o r i e P. J e a n - P a u l , D i r e c t o rA challenge bringsout the best in ourcommunity. Whenpresented with theopportunity toreplace the HighSchool windows, individuals near andfar joined together to successfullyachieve this goal. Over 120 donorscontributed to the Windows Challenge, with 79 individuals making a gift inaddition to their Annual Fundcontribution and capital campaignpledge payments. It also inspired 15people to make their first-time gift tothe School in support of this specialappeal. Overall a wonderful display ofdedication to our School from so manycurrent and alumni families! In total, $533,058 was raised thispast year through the Annual Fund. While many gifts were targeted forspecific projects, $76,173 wasunrestricted and could be used tosupport the general operations of theSchool. Since the true cost of aWaldorf education is not covered fullyby student tuition, unrestricted giving isan area we must increase in the future. In addition to financial support, anumber of in-kind donations werereceived, including laptop computers forthe Miller Library, a drum set for thestudent jazz group, and the refinishingof the gymnasium floor. These gifts arejust a few of the ways our supportersfurther enhanced the educationalexperiences for our students. We arealso grateful to the many volunteerswho gave countless hours of their timein support of the School. At special events like the MillerLibrary Opening and the CraninCourtyard Dedication, we honored thecontributions of community leaderswhose dedication paved the way for theSchool’s current success. We lookforward to our third Gala Dinner onMay 14, 2010 to celebrate the Schooland recognize outstanding individualswhose efforts have helped to make thisthe thriving community we all enjoy. Finally, I wish to thank everyonefor welcoming me this past year. Fromalumni sharing their childhoodmemories to parents talking about theirhopes and aspirations for our currentstudents – you all have enriched mywork in a profound way.
