Bicycle Colorado is a nonprofitorganization dedicated to encouraging and promotingbicycling, increasing safety, improving road conditionsand providing a voice for cyclists in Colorado.RIDING IN A PACELINE• Only ride in a paceline with those you arefamiliar riding with. If you are not experiencedriding in a paceline, it should be avoided.• Obey the rules of the road• Communicate– Use hand signals to indicate turns, stoppingand slowing– Use verbal warnings– Announce ALL passes of other bicyclists, “onyour left” or “group passing”– Another paceline member announcesthe NUMBER of riders passing, “four of uspassing”– ‘Car Up’ – to warn of approaching vehicles– ‘Car Back’ – to warn of passing vehicles• Be predictable & be prepared to YIELD to othertraffic for safety, legality and courtesy• Ride in a straight line• Be considerate to other cyclists and motorists• It’s NOT a race6
