ALS PRACTITIONER <strong>PROTOCOLS</strong>Partnership and juristic persons8. (1) A practitioner shall only practise in partnership or association with oremploy a practitioner who is registered under the Act, and only in respectof the profession which such practitioner is registered under the Act.(2) A practitioner shall only practise in or as a juristic person who is exemptedfrom registration in terms of section 54A of the Act if such juristic personcomplies with the conditions of such exemption.(3) A practitioner shall only practise in a partnership, association or as ajuristic person within the scope of the profession in respect of which he orshe is registered under the Act.(4) A practitioner shall not practise in any other form of practice which hasinherent requirements or conditions that violate or potentially may violateone or more of these rules or an annexure to these rules.Covering9. (1) A practitioner shall only employ as a professional assistant or locumtenens or in any other contractual professional capacity for a period notexceeding six months, a person -(a) who is registered under the Act;(b) whose name currently appears on a register kept by the registrarunder section 18 of the Act; and(c) who is not suspended from practising his or her profession.(2) A practitioner shall only help or support a person registered under theAct, the Pharmacy Act, 1974 (Act No. 53 of 1974), the Nursing Act, 1978(Act No. 50 of 1978), the Social Service Professions Act, 1978 (Act No.110 of 1978), the Dental Technicians Act, 1979 (Act No. 19 of 1979) or theAllied Health Professions Act, 1982 Act No. 63 of 1982), if the professionalpractice or conduct of such person is legal and within the scope of his orher profession.12 SEPTEMBER 2006
