MILITARYECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTBase, Camps Combine for Over$867 Million Annual Economic ImpactLRAFBA C-130 Hercules from Little Rock Air Force Base in Jacksonville, the world’s premier C-130 base.Little Rock Air Force BaseThe home of Combat Airlift is at Little Rock AirForce Base in Jacksonville, 17 miles north of LittleRock. The base is the world's premier C-130base, deploying and training the world's bestCombat Airlifters.The base consists of the 19th Airlift Wing, whichis the host unit reporting to Air Mobility Command,and the 314th Airlift Wing, which reportsto Air Education and Training Command. Additionally,the base is home to the Arkansas NationalGuard's 189th Airlift Wing, which also reportsto Air Education and Training Command.The Little Rock Air Force Base opened in October1955. The base consists of more than 6,000 acresand one runway. More than 5,000 active-duty militaryand civilian members and about 5,500 familymembers live and work on and around the base.The 19th Airlift Wing is composed of four flyingsquadrons: the 41st, 50th, 53rd and 61st AirliftSquadrons. The 41st is the Air Force's first activedutycombat-ready C-130J squadron. These squadronsare operational and deploy throughout theworld.The 314th Airlift Wing is composed of two C-130flying squadrons: the 48th and 62nd Airlift Squadrons,which train C-130 crewmembers from allbranches of the service and the U.S. Coast Guard,as well as students from allied nations. The 314thAirlift Wing also trains C-21 pilots through the45th Airlift Squadron located at Keesler Air ForceBase, Miss.The 189th Airlift Wing works in conjunction withthe 314th Airlift Wing to provide C-130 instructorpilot and loadmaster training. In times of emergencyas declared by the governor of Arkansas, the189th AW performs the state mission as directedby the state adjutant general.The base's total economic impact for Arkansas inFY2007 was more than $580 million.Camp Joseph T. RobinsonHeadquarters for the State Military Departmentand the Arkansas National Guard's Joint ForceHeadquarters, this 32,800-acre site in North LittleRock provides training facilities and weaponsranges for all branches of the U.S. armed forcesand civil law enforcement agencies.
