1953: Specialist study on ticks of the genus Hyalomma with Dr L. Delpy,
Institute Mérieux, Lyons, France.
1956: Appointed Senior Scientific Officer, EAVRO. Assisted Dr H.
Hoogstraal, of the United States Naval Medical Research Unit No. 3
Cairo, with the organization of a 3-month International Scientific
Working Party on Ectoparasites and Arthropod-borne Disease in East
Africa.
1957: Visited veterinary laboratories in Northern and Southern Rhodesia
(Zambia and Zimbabwe), South Africa and Nigeria to see the research
in progress there on arthropod vectors of disease.
1960: Awarded US National Institutes of Health Training Grant to attend
courses on acarology at the University of Maryland, and the
Rockefeller Foundation Travel Grant to visit laboratories and confer
with research workers in the United States and Canada.
1961: Appointed Principal Scientific Officer, EAVRO.
1962: Awarded Welcome Research Travel Grant to attend second meeting
of the FAO/OIE Expert Panel on Tick-borne Disease of Livestock as
an observer and to study tick collections at the United States Naval
Medical Research Unit No. 3, Cairo.
1963: Visited Veterinary Research Institute, Onderstepoort.
1966: Voluntary retirement from HMOCS.
