Cath Alexandrine Danneskiold-­‐Samsøe Gallery March 1 -­‐ April 30th, 2012‘The Window to Vanished Memories'-­‐ a solo exhibiAon presenAng works by Geoffroy Medinger'The Window to Vanished Memories' series, invites to the world of nostalgia and detachment, expressed by a sophis8cated romance between color, light and structure.Geoffroy Medinger's works encapsulate ephemeral moments of grace; moments of in8macy, discovered by him in hide-­away places around the world. The ar8st oCen plays with shades of ruby and emerald colors, blending them together into a delicate seDng. His work focuses -­‐ or some8mes defocuses -­‐ on capturing the coincidence of beauty, its fragility, its omnipresence. The 18 photography works, all square as to make them all equal, are like windows opened to a childhood world, where dreams arise in reality, just before they fade or vanish like a mystery, like a memory. In Geoffroy Medinger's world, grace never goes without a sense of loneliness, as if, in spite of natures overwhelming magic and the vibrant colors, beauty could remain unno8ced and love unanswered.Geoffroy Medinger (FR)(B. 1970 in Paris, lives & works in London & Paris)Geoffroy Medinger explored photography already at a young age, seDng up his own darkroom to experiment with B&W film processing, prin8ng and enlarging. Geoffroy Medinger studied History of Art at Columbia University 1991, followed by studies at F.I.T., New York, 1992 (photographic and pain8ng techniques); Geoffroy Medinger owes his extraordinary sensi8vity for color to ar8sts like Gustave Moreau, Odilon Redon and Frederic Leighton.
