style. Take into account the time of year and whether
your wedding is traditional, themed or informal.
n Decide the date and place of wedding.

n Book florist and choose arrangements for bouquets,
church and reception site.
n Book your desired transport to and from the ceremony.
n Book a toastmaster if required.
n Book your honeymoon and apply for passports.
n Reserve marquees and rental equipment if necessary.

n Select a stationery company for invitations, order of
service, menus, table plan, place cards, thank you notes,
photo albums
n Select and book musicians, DJ and entertainment. Also
start thinking about pieces of music for your ceremony,
first dance etc.
n Arrange hire of suits for groom, best man, fathers and ushers.
n Book decorations and balloons for the reception.
Transform a room by using balloons, fabric, garlands,
flowers and plants. Book firework company if required,
but check regulations at your venue first.
n Order your wedding rings. This will allow time for
custom designs and inscriptions.
n Book dental appointment for getting your teeth whitened
or any cosmetic surgery for that perfect wedding day smile.

n Compile wedding present list and register. If you already
have a home together, consider registering with a travel
agent for gift vouchers to use for your honeymoon or
future dream holiday.
n Send out invitations and keep track of RSVP,s, gifts
and thank you notes. Don’t forget a directions map and
local accommodation list for out of town guests.
n Book your first night accommodation.
Planning Your Special Day
n Discuss details of menu with venue or caterer.
n Book organist, choir & bells with the church, discuss
service with officiant and choose hymns.
n If you are writing your own vows, do so now. This is a
lovely way to personalize your ceremony and you don’t
have to be a poet
n Schedule rehearsal time and dinner.
n Buy gifts for bridal party and each other.
n Buy any special lingerie your dress requires and
take to your next fitting.
n Buy shoes and start breaking them in around the house.
n Go shopping for mums’ outfits, your going-away outfit
and honeymoon clothes.
n Make appointments with Hair and Beauty salons.
n Apply for postdated name change on passport.
n Select dry cleaning and gown and bouquet preservation
companies.
n Start writing your speeches.

n Have a trial run with hair and make-up with headpiece.
n Have final fittings for yourself and your attendants.
n Hold hen/stag night.
n Finalise details for the wedding and prepare check lists
for bridesmaids, best man and ushers!
n Prepare seating plan.

n Send out thank-you notes as gifts are received.
n Start course of tanning sessions or book self-tan
appointment at beauty salon.
n Confirm final arrangements in detail with all services.
n Pick up wedding rings.
n Confirm time of rehearsal with wedding party.
n Ask best man to take charge of returning the groom’s
and ushers clothing, if hired.

n Pick up your wedding gown.
n Notify venue/caterer of final guest count.
n Have facial and other beauty treatments.
n Give best man envelopes for paying any remaining fees
and tipping on the day.
n Start gathering wedding ensemble and packing for honeymoon.
n Make a detailed list of everything to be collected or delivered
in the next few days and delegate as much as possible!
