<strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong>/<strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong><strong>Smooth</strong>801/804Coverage<strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong>: 750-1100 ft 2 (70-102 m 2 ) per pailCoverages may vary depending on applicationtechnique and surface conditions.Packaging5 gal. pail (19 L)Shelf Life12 months, if properly stored and sealed.<strong>Sto</strong>rageProtect from extreme heat [90º F (32º C)],freezing, and direct sunlight.Surface PreparationConcrete and masonry surfaces: Surfaces mustbe free of all bond-inhibiting materials, includingdirt, efflorescence, form oil and other foreign matter.Loose or damaged material must be removedby waterblasting, sandblasting or mechanical wirebrushing and repaired. Avoid application overirregular surfaces. Resurface, patch or level surfacesto required tolerance and smoothness withappropriate <strong>Sto</strong> leveling materials. Fill surfacevoids. Refer to ASTM D-4258 and ASTM D-4261for complete details on methods of preparingcementitious substrates for coatings.<strong>Sto</strong> Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems(EIFS): Surface must be free of all bond-inhibitingmaterials, including dirt and efflorescence.Gypsum wallboard surfaces: Wallboardmust be taped and fasteners spotted with jointcompound. Refer to ASTM C-840 and gypsumwallboard manufacturer’s literature. Surface mustbe free of dust, dirt and other bond-inhibitingmaterials.MixingMix with a clean, rust-free electric drill andpaddle. <strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> is applied full strength(no dilution).ApplicationApply only to sound and clean, dry, properly prepared,frost-free surfaces. Apply <strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> withbrush, roller or proper spray equipment in a continuouscoat. Allow to dry before applying <strong>Sto</strong> finishes.Protect from rain, freezing, and continuous highhumidity until completely dry.Curing/Drying<strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> will dry within 4 hours under normal[70º F (21º C), 50% RH] conditions. Drying timevaries with temperature/ humidity and surfaceconditions.Clean UpClean tools and equipment with water immediatelyafter use. Dried material can only be removedmechanically.LimitationsUse <strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> only when surface and ambienttemperatures are above 40° F (4° C) duringapplication and drying period. Not recommendedas a finish coat. <strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> should not beused on horizontal surfaces unless protectedwith appropriate <strong>Sto</strong> decorative floor coatingor finish.Sloped surfaces: See <strong>Sto</strong> Details.<strong>Sto</strong> <strong>Primer</strong> should not be used as a finishcoat.Health & SafetyHealth PrecautionsProduct is water-based.
