be dedicated for training the coordinators of Haemovigilance Programme during
the WHO Pharmacovigilance Training Programme that is to be held in the year

National training centers for Haemovigilance needs to be set up. Initially three
zonal centers have been identified – i) Hyderabad (South zone), ii) Ahmedabad
(Central zone) and iii) Chandigardh ( North Zone).
The following six medical colleges may be declared as the Nodal centers for
coordinating with Haemovigilance Center, NIB

Role of the drug regulatory authorities for strengthening the programme was also
stressed upon.
Role of stand-alone blood banks like IRCS, New Delhi in the Haemovigilance
programme of India needs to be deliberated extensively. Necessary regulations
in this regard needs to be developed for extracting the ADR data from the
hospital/ medical colleges to which the blood units have been issued by these
blood banks.

x) The following replacements in the TRRF form is suggested
a) At point No.b) column No.3 “unit number” with “”Number of units transfused”
b) At point No.b) column No.4 “manufacturer” with “manufacturer of the blood
unit”
c) Deletion of Unintended and Uncategorized reactions at point No. C) serial
No. 18

The next meeting of the Haemovigilance Advisory Committee is proposed to be
held at NIB in the month of April 2013.
