Training aspects for reporting <strong>the</strong> transfusion reactions needs to be initiated.<br />

Training modules/ manuals need to be developed. Necessary action plans<br />

should be prepared for Training-<strong>of</strong> -trainers in haemovigilance<br />

v) Mrs. Madhur Gupta, Technical Officer , WHO suggested that one full day should<br />

be dedicated for training <strong>the</strong> coordinators <strong>of</strong> <strong>Haemovigilance</strong> Programme during<br />

<strong>the</strong> WHO Pharmacovigilance Training Programme that is to be held in <strong>the</strong> year<br />

National training centers for <strong>Haemovigilance</strong> needs to be set up. Initially three<br />

zonal centers have been identified – i) Hyderabad (South zone), ii) Ahmedabad<br />

(Central zone) and iii) Chandigardh ( North Zone).<br />

The following six medical colleges may be declared as <strong>the</strong> Nodal centers for<br />

coordinating with <strong>Haemovigilance</strong> Center, NIB<br />

2. AIIMS, New Delhi<br />

3. CMC, Vellore<br />

4. Tata Memorial Hospital , Mumbai<br />

Role <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> drug regulatory authorities for streng<strong>the</strong>ning <strong>the</strong> programme was also<br />

stressed upon.<br />

Role <strong>of</strong> stand-alone blood banks like IRCS, New Delhi in <strong>the</strong> <strong>Haemovigilance</strong><br />

programme <strong>of</strong> India needs to be deliberated extensively. Necessary regulations<br />

in this regard needs to be developed for extracting <strong>the</strong> ADR data from <strong>the</strong><br />

hospital/ medical colleges to which <strong>the</strong> blood units have been issued by <strong>the</strong>se<br />

blood banks.


x) The following replacements in <strong>the</strong> TRRF form is suggested<br />

a) At point No.b) column No.3 “unit number” with “”Number <strong>of</strong> units transfused”<br />

b) At point No.b) column No.4 “manufacturer” with “manufacturer <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> blood<br />

c) Deletion <strong>of</strong> Unintended and Uncategorized reactions at point No. C) serial<br />
