1. <strong>Other</strong> services at the EUI<br />

1.1 Canteen and cafeteria<br />

Throughout the year, except for Christmas, Easter and<br />

(most of ) August, the Cafeteria and Canteen (Mensa) are<br />

open from Monday to Friday during the following hours:<br />

Cafeteria 8.30-18.00<br />

Self-service canteen: 12.00-14.30<br />

In term time, the cafeteria at the Badia opens on Saturday<br />

mornings. Snacks and a simple lunch are served.<br />

As an example, for researchers a light lunch during the week<br />

costs ¤3.60. Payment for meals is by your EUI registration<br />

card, which is also a top-up card. Amounts of ¤5.00 or more<br />

may be credited. See the cashier at the canteen for this.<br />

Research students are given a reduction of 40% upon presen-<br />

tation of their <strong>Institute</strong> card.<br />

1.2 The Bar Fiasco www.eui.eu/personal/<br />

Situated in the basement below the main entrance of the<br />

Badia, is the Bar Fiasco. It has a TV and games room (pool-<br />

table and table football). It opens at approx. 6.30 p.m. and<br />

closes at … last orders at 1 a.m. Drinks (both alcoholic and non-<br />

alcoholic) and sandwiches are served as well as hot drinks (at<br />

the bartender’s mercy). It is a gathering place for all staff and<br />

researchers, and is, for the most part, managed by them. For<br />

1.3 Newspaper reading area<br />

Located in the Badia cafeteria. There is a selection<br />

of the major <strong>European</strong> newspapers.<br />
