Member information has been imported into Quick
Books. Employee and payroll tax data has been
entered; the goal is to issue the next payroll from the
in-house system. The Chart of Accounts is currently
being formulated.
New Business
General Manager Position: The interview process
was outlined. Thirty resumés have been received for the
General Manager position. The Board of Directors will
select interviewees. Three teams of interviewers will
conduct independent interviews; leaders received interview
packets. Teams will meet and devise 5 or 6 questions
for candidates. All candidates will receive the same
questions and be rated on a scale. Teams will have 30
minutes with each candidate.
Extended Hours Task Force: Jarilyn Rust requested
rescheduling the key card presentation for the April Board
meeting. Initial estimates were that the system would cost
$15,000. The task force needs additional time to examine
other aspects of the system.
Other Business and Announcements
The Finance Committee and the Facilities Committee
were tasked to provide a report at the April Board meeting
on how to achieve a level of 70 percent funding of the
SBCA reserves.
A draft protocol for recording SBCA Board meetings was
distributed and will be discussed at the April Board meeting.
The Instructor Led Classes - Facility Fee Guideline
was approved.
Ed Knodle will chair the Nominations Task Force to find
nominees to fill vacant positions on the Board of Directors.
The SBCA Board of Directors and SBCA ARC will
conduct a workshop to discuss legal opinions on March
18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bay Club.
Richard and Phyllis Gandy were approved as Associate
Members. The Board recessed to Executive Session to
discuss personnel issues. The regular meeting reconvened
and candidates were approved for interview for the
General Manager position.
The next regular SBCA Meeting will be Friday, April 5
at 9:30 a.m.
Let’s Get Involved!

As homeowners in South Bay, one of the best things we
can do is to be involved in the active leadership of our
community. This year there will be four positions open
for election to the Board at our SBCA Annual Meeting
on Wednesday, July 17. The goal is to have communityminded
candidates run for these positions.
Here is your opportunity to step up to the challenge of
providing leadership to manage the business of the association.
Candidates should be knowledgeable about the
provisions of our governing documents and be willing to
accept fiduciary responsibility for the affairs of SBCA.
Without question, there are many residents who can
fulfill these responsibilities. Individuals with accounting
or finance background would be very beneficial. Most
important is a desire to preserve, protect and enhance our
community.
We hope to have more than the minimum number of four
candidates; so please step up and offer your time and
talents to this important work.

An Invitation from Free Spirits
Celebrate spring by attending the Free Spirits Spring
Event “Cherry Blossoms and Jasmine,” to be held on
Saturday, April 27. The time is 6:00 p.m. for the start
of the festivities and the place is the Bay Club. We have
a new Asian-inspired menu to entice you, in addition
to music by Leslie and Michael for your listening and
dancing enjoyment. The dress is comfortably casual
and the price could not be better: $22 for Free Spirits
members and $29 for non-members and friends.
If you are new to Port Ludlow, have not attended a Free
Spirits Dinner lately (or at all), please consider this one.
Members began signing up on Monday March 25; nonmembers
and friends are invited to sign up beginning
Monday, April 15, and the last day to save a place at the
table is Monday, April 22. This is a great opportunity to
catch up after a long winter and to celebrate the coming of
spring with “Good Wine, Good Food and Good Friends.”
