LOA Meeting Monday, December 7, 9:00 a.m. LMC Board Meeting Saturday, December 12, 9:00 a.m. Tel: 437-9201 e-mail: beachclub@olympus.net q Denotes Beach Club members-only activity Important Dates LMC Meeting Highlights by Mike Larkin, Secretary, LMC Board of Trustees The Ludlow Maintenance Commission (LMC) monthly Board Meeting was held on Saturday, November 14, in the Bayview Room at the Beach Club. All trustees participated, with two of the trustees out of state participating by phone and speakerphone. The Board took the following actions: It approved the 2010 operating and reserve budget. These budgets were a cooperative effort by the Operations Committee recommending expenditures from both the operating and reserve funds as required for repairs and maintenance of LMC facilities. The budget then was reviewed extensively by the Finance Committee and submitted to the LMC Board. The budget items were reviewed by the LMC Trustees at a Board discussion session on November 5, and then voted on at the monthly Board meeting. Several items were reduced or eliminated prior to approval. LMC members will have an opportunity to ratify the 2010 budgets at a special member’s meeting that has been scheduled for Saturday, December 12. The Board approved the replacement of six (6) windows in the indoor pool are. The new tempered glass windows will replace the original non-tempered windows as a matter of safety. In addition, glass in two Beach Club entry doors will be replaced because the seal has broken. Duane Wilcox, Chair of the Covenants and Regulations (C&R) Committee, recommended Carol Reichstetter as a new member of the C&R Committee. Her nomination was approved. The Board heard and approved C&R Committee recommendations regarding LMC membership rules, Beach Club rules, and limits on number of guests per family member using the facilities at any one time. Bill Clark, chair of the Architectural Committee, reviewed progress on the review of the “Trees and Views” regulations. The moratorium is scheduled to be lifted in January 2010. This questionnaire will provide valuable information. The input provided by the questionnaire will assist your LMC Board in being responsive to the members for future direction. The Greenbelt Committee and the Port Ludlow Village Council (PLVC) Trails Committee are cooperating in improving safety for hikers and volunteers when using and improving the trail system through greenbelts within the North Bay of Port Ludlow. President’s Message by Elizabeth Van Zonneveld, LMC President Ludlow Maintenance Commission (LMC) Trustees, manager Brian Belmont and Finance Chair Ian Feltham worked long hours at the November 14 Board meeting, reviewing the LMC Operating and Reserve Budgets to be presented to members for ratification in December. A number of individual line items received close scrutiny and trimming or adjustments. In the end, the Board agreed to present a nearly flat budget over 2009, with about a $4.11 increase per member. Reporting for the Long Range Plan Committee, Bill Hansen described the process underway to tabulate responses to the survey members received with the fall issue of LMC’s newsletter, the Navigator. A total of 165 surveys have been returned to date. Maybe that survey was mislaid or overlooked at your house. It was enclosed with the Navigator.
