A Merry Peninsula Holiday

We don’t have to take a ferry or travel
long distances to enjoy the pleasures of the
season. Our own little part of the universe
is bursting with more holiday activities than
one could manage to attend…but I’m going to try.
The Port Ludlow Singers will be entertaining us at the
First Wednesday Luncheon on Wednesday, December
2. The only cost is a contribution to our local Food
Bank, which you were going to do anyway. On Friday,
December 4, get on over to the Bay Club to see the
gorgeous tree light up and to hear the Choral Belles
with their annual holiday music. The next day, Saturday,
December 5, after you’ve toured the magnificently decorated
homes on Community Enrichment Alliance’s (CEA’s) annual
tour, you can show up at The Inn At Port Ludlow where the
Artists’ League and Chef Dan will get together for a reception
combining art and food. (See related stories on pages 1, 5 and
the back page of this issue.)
After all of this excitement, you still might have the
energy to take a drive to the Historic Victorian Seaport of
Port Townsend which will be festooned with lights and
swags of greenery. On Saturday, December 5 they will
light the community tree and Santa will come to visit.
It’s the first Saturday of the month, so you’ll be able to
tour many of Port Townsend’s galleries and shops. Go to

On Thursday, December 10, CEA will take us off of the
Peninsula to tour the Bellevue Botanical Gardens. My
husband and I toured this display last year, and if you
haven’t seen the gardens at night (or even if you have)
with thousands of sparkling lights strung everywhere,
don’t miss this opportunity! Hope for a crisp, clear night.
The Arts Council will be treating us to a Romanza
Christmas on Sunday, December 13, when you have
your choice of a matinee or an evening program. The
wassail will be brewing and the tree will be lighted. O
Night Divine! On the evening of Wednesday, December
16 at the Bay Club, the Port Ludlow Singers will
entertain the community with a gift of holiday songs. Or
put on your parka, earmuffs and gloves to see the lighted
boats at Holiday-on-the-Docks. Then pop into the Fireside
Room for a toddy to warm up after all the walking. (See
related stories on pages 7 and 35.)
And, finally, dear readers, on Christmas Eve you may
attend candlelight services at either the Port Ludlow
Community Church or Grace Christian Center. What a
wonderful way to prepare for the Big Day!
