CEA Arranges Garden Trip
Community Enrichment
Alliance (CEA)
has arranged an outing
to Bellevue Botanical
Gardens on Thursday,
December 10. The bus
will leave from the Bay
Club at 3:00 p.m. and return about 9:30 p.m.
At Bellevue Botanical Gardens you will enter a world
where lights have created a holiday fantasy land of three
dimensional flowers, shrubs, critters and water. After
viewing the lights, it’s dinner at Basil’s in our own private
dining room in the Bellevue Hilton. The menu can be
previewed at CEA’s promotional table where you also can
sign up any Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
All transportation, entrance, dinner, including coffee,
tea and tip, is just $65 per person. Please pay when you
register, as no places will be reserved until payment is
received. You also can make out your check to CEA and
send it to Community Enrichment Alliance, P. O. Box
65342, Port Ludlow, WA 98365. The deadline for registration,
cancellations and refunds is Tuesday, December 1.

New Year’s Eve Celebration
On Thursday, December 31, at 7:00 p.m., the doors of
the Bay Club will open for a gala New Year’s Eve event.
Start with scrumptious appetizers and BYO cocktails.
Then at 8:00 p.m., dine on delicious beef tenderloin or
baked Alaskan halibut served by Randall’s Catering. Soft
dinner music will be provided by Nostalgia during dinner.
At 9:00 p.m., Nostalgia will switch to dance music from
an era most will remember and attendees will twirl away
the last hours of 2009. The New Year countdown begins
just before midnight. Guests will toast the New Year with
champagne, exchange a kiss with their partner and shout
in 2010 with a shower of confetti and a blast of horns.
Make a pre-New Year’s resolution to book your reservations
at the Bay Club by calling 437-2208. South Bay
members pay a measly $60 each for all the fun. Nonmember
reservations are $65 each. The dress is black
tie optional. All alcoholic beverages and mix are BYO;
everything else is provided. Seating is limited to 128. If

CEA Auction/Sale Raises
Thousands for Charity
Despite the sagging economy, Community Enrichment
Alliance (CEA) raised $6,400 for Victims of Domestic
Violence and Assault at its recent auction and sale. Volunteers
stepped forward, divided the responsibilities and
worked to hold a silent auction. A book/media sale and
the 50/50 auction were successful additions from previous
years. A bid number system and the division of the auction
into three sections were changes designed to foster
bidding.
In 2007, 88 families of the Victims of Domestic Violence
and Assault received support as a result of the CEA
Silent Auction. Last year that number grew to 124 families.
Aware of the increasing need, the Bluebills began
building beautiful things and soliciting gift certificates,
particularly from the Golf Course. Additionally, the
people in Port Ludlow donated wonderful treasures. A
book discussion group, several community clubs, an
entire neighborhood and some individuals donated
themed baskets. By November a record 330 items were
ready for bidding.
Martha Dawson’s magnificent cello playing set a
sophisticated tone for the auction evening. A professional
announcer, Carol Nugent, kept the pace lively, and the
scrumptious appetizers donated by CEA volunteers were
enjoyed by all. Best of all CEA and Bluebills will once
again be able to provide holiday presents for these needy
families.
