We all know that football is a fickle
game and I see that Kent Football
has seen its first managerial casualty
with the sacking by Ashford
Town of their manager Paul Chambers
after their 5-1 defeat in the
FA Cup extra preliminary round by
Cray Valley. Assistant Lloyd Blackman
has left also. Taking over is
ex Brickie Danny Lye.
Not sure if it’s me but the Sky
commentators seem to have forgotten
some of the basic laws of
the game. I was watching Liverpool
v Bournemouth and Bournemouth
thought they had scored an
early goal only for the referee to
rule the ”goal” out for the forward
climbing on a defender’s back. It
was a blatant foul in my mind but
the sky commentators kept on going
on about it. To have both
hands on someone’s shoulders to
gain height is surely a foul,. The
other thing about that game I noticed
was that Skirtel was up to
his old tricks in pulling players
physically back in the penalty area,
when will a referee be brave
enough to award a penalty in a
move that would surely be penalised
outside the box! Rant nearly
over!! But one more thing. The
commentators often say “at this
level you cant miss chances”, a
phrase that mystifies me as at any
level “you can’t afford to miss
chances !!”
The match against Carshalton was
played on their new 3G pitch, and
it’s the first time that I have actually
concentrated more on the
pitch than on the game!! I’m still
not sure about them down here in
the South. The constant smell of
rubber and the puffs of black particles
throughout the game did put
me off. Carshalton have a quintessential
old fashion non league
ground and to me a 3G pitch
didn’tlook or feel right.
Cup time is coming up and its always
an exciting time of the year.
Will we need a TV gantry when we
get to the first round of the Emirates
FA Cup!! What suit shall I
wear when we reach the FA Trophy
final!!! Ah well one can
dream!
