EASTER CELEBRATIONS – Egg Competition
We are running an Egg Decorating Competition on Monday 25 th March and all children are invited to enter an egg for
judging. This is eggxactly the right sort of competition to enter before Easter and the eggxcitement will rise as judging day
looms. Yolking apart, it will be fun and you don’t have to shell out a fortune to gather the ingredients.
You can help with the decoration, although we will also look for some in each year group that have been done solely
by the child. Entries should be sent to school on Monday 25 th March for judging, which will take place between 8.30 and
9.00. All entrants will receive a small prize and there will be a 1 st , 2 nd and 3 rd prize in each Year group.
For a change, Y3 and 4 can enter an ‘Eggmobile’ rather than a decorated egg. They need to design a vehicle / carriage that
will transport their egg (hard boiled) 10 metres. We look forward to some interesting designs.
COMMONWEALTH DAY
On Monday a group of QDG & 5 Rifles soldiers visited us to celebrate Commonwealth Day. We thank the team for coming
along and showing us some wonderful pictures and telling us all about their Commonwealth country. They also performed
some lively dances and let us taste some yummy biscuits.
RED NOSE DAY
Next week we will let you know exactly how much we collected today, and will be sending this amount off to Comic Relief.
Thank you for all your efforts with this fun event.
PARENTS’ AFTERNOON/EVENING
Thank you to all the parents who came along to the Parents’ meeting this week. I hope you found the meeting useful and
know how your child is progressing. If you would like any further information, please come along to Open House on a
Wednesday after school.
The secretary will be contacting all parents who had to cancel their appointment to meet with their child/ren’s teacher. It is
extremely important that we meet with you, and we will arrange a time convenient to both you and the teacher. I thank you
for your support with this.
I sent home on Wednesday information about pupil attainment. Many parents find all the various levels quite confusing so I
hope you found the explanation of use when you met your child’s teacher. If not, please call and I will try to clarify the
various levels to you.
FRUITY FRIDAYS & THE FRUIT & VEGETABLE SCHEME
Every Friday the children have a small sampler of a fruit (each week will be different) and will be in addition to the FS2 and
KS1 (Y1 & 2) Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. We also place a basket of fruit in the KS2 (Y3 & 4) open area for them to pick a
piece as they go out to break. The Fruit & Vegetable Scheme is an SCE initiative and paid for by the authority.
Fruity Friday is supported by NAAFI as they are providing the fruit free of charge, and preparing it in the kitchen for us.
This is greatly appreciated. Today it was Pineapple and next week it is:
