KONOPIŠTÌ CHATEAU<br />
Konopiště was founded <strong>in</strong><br />
the 13th century as a gothic<br />
fortress <strong>in</strong> the style of<br />
French castles by Bishop<br />
Tobiáš z Benešova. It underwent<br />
several modifications<br />
over the next centuries until<br />
it was f<strong>in</strong>ally turned <strong>in</strong>to a<br />
baroque residence <strong>in</strong> the<br />
18th century. In the 19th century it was bought by Ferd<strong>in</strong>and d'Este,<br />
Austrian Crown Pr<strong>in</strong>ce, who equipped it with unique furnish<strong>in</strong>gs, collections<br />
