Originally a wooden hunting
castle rebuilt and fortified
by Prince Vladislav I in
1109-25. Today’s shape is
from the 13th century.

KONOPIŠTÌ CHATEAU
Konopiště was founded in
the 13th century as a gothic
fortress in the style of
French castles by Bishop
Tobiáš z Benešova. It underwent
several modifications
over the next centuries until
it was finally turned into a
baroque residence in the
18th century. In the 19th century it was bought by Ferdinand d'Este,
Austrian Crown Prince, who equipped it with unique furnishings, collections
