1952<br />
Louise Evans (MS Psychology; PhD Clinical Psychology,<br />
1955) was recently honored as the Ambassador for Life and<br />
awarded with a certificate of recognition for “her outstanding<br />
leadership and enduring commitment” by the International<br />
Council of Psychologists during their 61st annual convention.<br />
1964<br />
Dorothy (Runk) Mennen (MA Theatre) was recently<br />
presented with the Sagamore of the Wabash award for her<br />
achievements within Purdue’s Theatre Division. This prestigious<br />
award is the highest honor that the governor of Indiana<br />
can give.<br />
1966<br />
Richard Wunderlich (PhD Sociology) is a professor of<br />
sociology at The College of Saint Rose in New York. He spent<br />
24 years studying Pinocchio and co-authored, with Thomas<br />
Morrisey, Pinocchio Goes Postmodern: Perils of a Puppet in<br />
the United States.<br />
1970<br />
William R. Brown (PhD Sociology) retired from the<br />
University of Central Florida where he was Chair of the<br />
Department of Sociology, Social Work, and Anthropology.<br />
Kendra (Becker) Lewis (BA Social Sciences) continues her<br />
achievements as president of the Connor Prairie Alliance,<br />
which raises funds for the Connor Prairie museum. Her accolades<br />
include 20 years in development and fund-raising for<br />
non-profit organizations.<br />
1973<br />
Donna (Carter) Gentry (BA Art<br />
Education) has been an art teacher at<br />
the Center Grove Community School<br />
Corporation in Greenwood, Indiana,<br />
for 17 years. She is the building representative<br />
for the United Teacher<br />
Association of Center Grove. Her two<br />
daughters are both attending Purdue<br />
in the School of Liberal Arts.<br />
1975<br />
Joanna (Joey) Kremer (BS Anthropology) is the facilities<br />
manager for Raytheon in Pasadena, California.<br />
1978<br />
Angela (Barron) McBride (PhD Psychology; HDR Liberal<br />
Arts, 1998) is on a year-long sabbatical in Washington, DC,<br />
as a senior scholar at the Institute of Medicine. She recently<br />
stepped down as dean of the Indiana University School of<br />
Nursing.<br />
1980<br />
Mark Flanary (BA Political Science) was recently selected as<br />
executive director of the Concord Development Corporation in<br />
Indianapolis.<br />
Kathleen (McCain) Murphy (BA Sociology) earned her<br />
master’s degree from UCLA’s School of Public Health in June<br />
2003 and continues to work at Kaiser Permanente in<br />
California. She also recently became a guest lecturer at UCLA’s<br />
Education Extension Program for Health Education of<br />
Teachers.<br />
1981<br />
Leslie (Wojtys) Gum (BA Sociology) is the senior social<br />
worker at Metropolitan Family Services in Wheaton, Illinois.<br />
1983<br />
Donna (Koscica) Gastevich (BA Foreign Languages and<br />
Literatures) recently became the associate vice president for<br />
public affairs and executive director for alumni relations at<br />
Arizona State University.<br />
1984<br />
Kathleen Ann Kennedy (BS Anthropology)<br />
is the director of admissions for the<br />
Montessori Academy at Edison Lakes in<br />
Mishawaka, Indiana.<br />
Jan C. Larson (MA Sociology) works in the<br />
Indianapolis Public Schools system as a school<br />
administrator.<br />
1985<br />
Duane Matcha (PhD Sociology) received a Fulbright Grant<br />
and taught at Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland.<br />
1986<br />
Peter J. Oleshchuk (BA Film Studies) was recently promoted<br />
to assistant program director for radio stations Lite Rock<br />
107.9 WTPI and NewsTalk 1430 WXNT in Indianapolis.<br />
1987<br />
Ted Allen (BA Psychology; MA Journalism, 1989) is one of<br />
the five stars of Bravo’s hit television series Queer Eye for the<br />
Straight Guy. The premise of the show is to teach straight men<br />
new concepts of living. Allen is the food and wine aficionado.<br />
1989<br />
Robert Kessler (BA Communication) joined Enterprise Rent-<br />
A-Car in St. Louis, Missouri, as its new director of employee<br />
communications, focusing on all internal and recruiting communications.<br />
1990<br />
LeeAnn (Rutenberg) Carter (PhD Law and Society) is the<br />
corporate officer for Sunset Harbor, Inc. in Terre Haute,<br />
Indiana.<br />
1991<br />
Donna (Mahoy) Granger (BA Communication) recently<br />
established Granger Care Services in West Lafayette, Indiana.<br />
The company offers assistance to those who need minimal<br />
help with daily activities.<br />
1992<br />
Angela (Flinn) Carver (BA Anthropology) is the assistant<br />
dean of students at Illinois Wesleyan University in<br />
Bloomington, Illinois.<br />
Brian Chapman (BA Industrial Design) was recently promoted<br />
to senior director of design for Hasbro Toy Group. As a<br />
designer of toys for 10 years, he recently visited the set of<br />
Star Wars Episode 3 in Australia to gather digital scans of<br />
actors and props for toy design. He and wife Jane-Ann had a<br />
daughter, Jada-Jane, in 2002.<br />
Marc Engoglia (BA English) is associate principal at<br />
Cleveland Heights High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. He<br />
earned his master’s degree in administrative education from<br />
John Carroll University in 2002.<br />
Lee Anne (Dust) Scott (BA Political Science and<br />
Government; MS Agricultural Economics, 1996) accepted the<br />
position of second director of development for the School of<br />
Liberal Arts at Purdue University in West Lafayette.<br />
1993<br />
Gretchen (Dellinger) Johnson (BA English) is a customer<br />
account specialist for General Electric in Fort Wayne, Indiana.<br />
She and husband Rob (BPE Physical Recreation Education,<br />
1994) are parents to Foster, born in February 2003.
