The route:
Start: Maggie's Nottingham – Built in 2011 and
designed by Piers Gough, the Centre appears almost
to float among the trees, which shelter it from the
main building of Nottingham City Hospital, and its
sense of symmetry and shape create a sense of
space and balance.
New Art exchange – our first stop is a contemporary
visual arts space in Nottingham that celebrates the
region's cultural richness and diversity. It is the largest
gallery in the UK dedicated to culturally diverse
contemporary visual arts.
Nottingham Castle – situated on a high rock,
Nottingham Castle commands spectacular views
over the city and once rivalled the great castles of
Windsor and the Tower of London. Its history is
chequered with sieges, murders and intrigue.
Trent Bridge – the world’s oldest test match venue.
Trent Bridge's serene pavilion, kept within the
architectural parameters of its 1889 foundation, is
thought of as one of the most renowned trademarks
of cricket because it faces the wicket at an angle.
Finish: Ballroom in the Council House – Nottingham
Council House is the city hall of Nottingham and will
be welcoming our walkers at the end of their 9 mile
adventure around the city. The iconic 200 feet high
dome that rises above the city is the centrepiece of
the skyline and looks over the Old Market Square.
