Time for a chop, youth?
Think back to your last haircut. How’d you feel about it when you walked out of the
shop? Disappointed? While your disappointing haircut might have been due to poor

AUTUMN
Autumn isn't all about blackberries and
crunchy leaves – it also brings many
changes for road users, from dazzlingly
blinding sunlight to the first icy windscreen
of the season. Be prepared – plan ahead
to avoid being caught out.
Autumn is particularly bad for dazzle from
low sun. Improve vision by making sure that
the windscreen is clean – inside and out.
Even non-smokers find a hazy film builds up
on the inside surface of the windscreen
over time. Scratches, abrasions and chips
on the outside can intensify the sun's dazzle
too.
So, Why tint?
The reasons for tinting cars are varied. “I just
wanted that classy appearance on my car.” It is
usually an extra modification to put on a car so it
would look nicer.. Others think the black tint on
the windscreens give drivers a little more privacy.
Gary, the owner of ‘1 st Choice Tints’ in Nottingham
explains that car tinting is laying a thin coloured
sticker on the car windscreens or
windows. Apparently, not every part of the car
can be tinted. The law states front windows must
allow 70% of light through; the front windscreen
75%.
No particular tint stickers are made for a particular
type or brand of vehicles. However, it appears
tinting is associated with relatively
expensive vehicles. Few people , if any, will tint
their low cost cars. Amasha says this has to do
with people’s luxurious lifestyle.
“Tinting is not a necessity but an extra modification
on the vehicle, and it’s often the people who
are above the level of self-actualisation.

Dr Marcus Bicknell, a GP at Beechdale Surgery and Clinical Lead at Nottingham City CCG, said: “Children like to be out and about
enjoying the freedom of the summer holidays. But for some, the burden of allergies can make everyday life tough, affecting social
plans and emotional wellbeing. However, there are some basic precautions you can take to reduce your child’s exposure to pollen
whilst you’re outdoors.”
Here’s how you can help:Avoid playing or walking in grassy areas and camping – particularly in the early morning and evening and
at night when pollen counts are highest.
Encourage your child to wear wraparound sunglasses to stop pollen getting into their eyes whilst playing outdoors.
Change their clothes when returning home from a day out, as pollen can cling to their hair and clothing.
Give them a bath before bed to avoid pollen transferring to their bed sheets.
If the pollen count is high (over 50) consider indoor activities and follow these steps to make your child as comfortable as possible
at home:
Keep windows and doors shut in the house. If it gets too warm, draw the curtains to keep out the sun and keep the temperature
down.Don't keep fresh flowers in the house. Hoover regularly. Don't smoke or let other people smoke in your house. Smoking and
breathing in other people's smoke will irritate the lining of your child’s nose, eyes, throat and airways, and can make their
symptoms worse.
If possible, avoid drying clothes outside. This will help prevent bringing pollen into your house.
For advice on over-the-counter remedies to help ease your child’s symptoms, visit your local pharmacy. You don’t need an
appointment and most pharmacies have private consultation rooms where you can speak to a healthcare professional.
If your child is still struggling with persistent symptoms, help your GP by listing the symptoms, when they happen, how often they
occur and if anything specific seems to trigger them. Your GP may then offer tests to identify the allergen that is causing the
symptoms.

annual RAF in Concert tour

to honour those brave and courageous
heroes who helped defend
Britain in 1940 and celebrate their
legacy with the men and women of
today’s Royal Air Force who ‘Secure

Luftwaffe during the Battle of Britain
or scrambling Typhoons to escort
Russian Bears off the Cornish coast
in 2015, the crucial role of the Royal
Air Force in securing our skies
remains as important today as it
was 75 years ago. The concerts will
turn the spotlight not only on the
celebrated ‘Few’ but also on the
many unsung heroes who contributed
to Britain’s ‘Finest Hour’.
The prestigious 16-venue tour, which
is staged in support of the RAF Charitable
Trust, will be visiting the Royal
Concert Hall in Nottingham on Saturday
14 November. The compere
for the evening will be Alan Dedicoat
with vocalists Emer McParland
and Flight Lieutenant Matthew Little.
Featuring the Bands of the Royal Air
Force, the show will include rousing
